The National Youth Parliament (NYP), in partnership with The Gambia Association of Local Government Authorities (GALGA) on Thursday, kick started an introductory meeting on the project called “Enhancing Transparency, Citizens Participation, and Access to Local Government”.

Both the NYP and GALGA meet with the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), the Brikama Arear Council and the Mansakonko Arear council to discuss plans and procedures for the smooth run of the local government and citizens-centered project lasting for six months.

The activity focus of the project includes:

1. Conduct advocacy workshops with local government officials to promote accountability practices and establish transparency standards.

2. Develop and launch an online portal for public access to local government information.

3. Organize regular council session observations and publish findings to raise public awareness.
